Artists document periods of time in history, here is an opportunity for you to own a piece of history.

Own an amazing artwork while supporting small businesses in need. ORT Jet (a division of ORT SA) brings the community an Online Art Auction and Artist Talk on the 4th of August from 19:30–21:00 on the Zoom Webinar platform.

This first-of-its-kind online fundraiser for ORT Jet will be hosted by prominent conceptual artist, Kim Lieberman.

Artworks by Kim and other highly-regarded artists will be auctioned during the session and people will be able to browse the catalogue beforehand and offer bids on the Aspire Art Auction’s website.

The event will start with a talk on a series of artworks Kim Liebermann has made during Lockdown 2020. Each work focuses on a different theme that has been pertinent during this time. The artist will also reference “The Pale Blue Dot” – a famous photograph of Earth taken on 14 February 1990 that has served as inspiration in some of her artworks.

Liebermann’s artworks are fabricated using currency from various countries across the globe. This alludes to the fact that whatever one does, there is always some economic underpinning, value, or disturbance. The topics covered in the works include: Leaders; Education and The People; Plants and Animals; Rocks and Water; Architecture; and Transport.

The presentation will be followed by an auction of artworks by eminent South African artists which include: Kim Lieberman, Kim Berman, Roger Ballen, Usha Seejarim, Dan Halter, Senzo Shabangu, Thabang Lehobye and Robyn Penn, Nina Barnett.
