Application Process

Online application at www.ortjet.org.za is available for businesses meeting the following criteria:
•Concept – Business idea
•Start-up – Business has started and been running for less than one year
•On registration, a form will be emailed to you for completion.
•Final date for completed forms to be submitted is 1st July 2015.

Phase 2

July 2015
Selection and Assessment Criteria

40 businesses are selected according to the following criteria:
•The most practical idea
•The most innovative and creative type of business
•A sustainable business model
•Successful motivation on why the business is entering the competition

Phase 3

July 2015
Lean Start-Up Training Programme
•The forty selected businesses are given the opportunity to attend the Lean Start-Up Training Programme which assists in perfecting their business plans.
•After the training, business pitches are made to the judging panel, who will select the ten finalists.
•The panel comprises; Paul Bacher, Rowan Swartz, Maxine Jaffit and Clive Butkow.

Phase 4

August 2015
ORT JET Business Bootcamp

The ten finalists are accepted into the ORT JET Business Bootcamp. Bootcamp includes training in:
•Developing a business strategy
•Marketing a small business
•Online Marketing
•Finance for Non-Financial Managers
•How to sell your product (including “how to pitch your business”)

The Final Pitch

8 September 2015

After having been through a practice pitching session with the selection panel, the ten finalists will have the opportunity to pitch their business plan to the panel of Judges. The judges are:
•David Lloyd (MD Liberty investments)
•Adrienne Hersch (Adrienne Hersch Properties)
•Ran Neu Ner (Group Co-CEO The Creative Counsel)
•Dave Wilson (COO Clients and Industries, Deloitte)
•Donna Rachelson (Director, Seed Engine)

This panel will select the competition winners. This session will be filmed and shown at the awards ceremony at the Gala Dinner on 27 October 2015.

The Eureka Awards Ceremony

The Eureka Awards Ceremony is a prestigious event hosting 250 guests. Among the invited guests are Corporates, business people and well known business leaders from the Jewish community. The programme includes presentations from well-known, successful business people and community leaders.
